“All dressed up in green and nowhere to go,” said no one ever on St. Patrick’s Day in Atlanta. You don’t have to be Irish to celebrate the luckiest day of the year in this city. St. Patrick’s Day is officially on Sunday, March 17th, but most places are making a weekend out of it. Atlanta will take any excuse to throw a party or have a parade, especially if there are leprechauns and pots of gold involved. Beacham & Company decided to do a little research on the best spots to throw down and fill up on green beer.
Fado Irish Pub & Restaurant: This decked-out watering hole has been setting the standard for St. Patrick’s Day since it opened. They don’t mess around. On March 16th, they’ll be showing rugby starting at 10:30 a.m. and an outdoor festival starting at 6:00 p.m. They open at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday and the festival kicks off at noon. They’ll have bagpipers piping, bands playing, green beer flowing, and lots of Irish-ish food.
Luckyfest: If the Irish in you is bursting at the seams of your favorite green pants, you don’t have to wait until St. Patty’s Day weekend to let it out. Park Tavern is kicking off its celebration on Saturday, March 9th! They are claiming that this is NOT a St. Patrick’s Day party, but it’s called LUCKYfest and the event’s posters are covered in four-leaf clovers and pots of gold. If it looks like a leprechaun, talks like a leprechaun… you get the point! They’ll have live bands, people dressed in green, green beer, and lots of people getting lucky!
130th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade: Starting at noon on Saturday, March 16th, the city’s best bagpipers will be leading the way through downtown followed by a line of floats sprinkling Irish spirit everywhere they go. Throw your kids in their favorite green overalls and bring them out to soak up a little sun and a lot of luck. Also, it’s the 130th time they’ve done this, so there’s almost no excuse for them not to get it right!
Rí Rá Irish Pub: Their middle name’s Irish and their first name sounds like something people scream when they’re having a ton of fun, so they really don’t need an introduction. This Midtown hot spot really knows how to celebrate being Irish, and this year they’re taking it to the streets. Crescent Street to be exact. They’ll be closing down the whole thing and opening up at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 16th with plenty of green beer to last through the weekend. Bands start playing inside at noon and more music outside starting at 2:00 pm.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day, Atlanta!
