The Briarcliff community is located in western DeKalb County, nestled between Interstate 85 and Clairmont Road. It borders the area that is made up of Emory University, Druid Hills High School, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention which makes it an ideal spot to call home for people who work in that area. The community is also close to many Atlanta attractions, the Midtown and Buckhead districts, and the city of Brookhaven.

The Briarcliff area is home to dozens of restaurants that serve all types of cuisine and keep the locals coming back week after week. A few of these include Fortune Cookie, Cafe Bombay, Shorty’s Pizza, Waikikie Hawaiian BBQ, and Nicola’s Restaurant. For those who like to go for a nice stroll after lunch, Thomson Park has trails and a playground. Nearby Kittredge Park has a pool and baseball fields. Fun family attractions like Stone Mountain Park, the Fernbank Science Center, and the Fernbank Museum of Natural History are just a few miles from Briarcliff. Since Briarcliff is just a short drive away from Atlanta’s Midtown district, iconic locations like the Fox Theatre and the Atlanta Botanical Gardens are favorites among residents. For golfers, the Capital City Country Club and Druid Hills Golf Club are two of the area’s most popular places to play.
There are many popular subdivisions and neighborhoods in the Briarcliff area, such as Briarcliff Heights, Victoria Estates, Vista Hills, Merry Mills, Mount Brian Woods, and Biltmore Acres. Because the area is so popular, homes tend to sell within a month or two of hitting the market, and the average price is around $300,000. Some townhomes and apartments are located in the area, but the majority of residences are mid-century ranch and cottage styles. There is also some new construction here. Like many of the surrounding neighborhoods, the homes tend to sit on larger lots filled with mature trees and shrubs.
Students living in the Briarcliff area have the option of attending DeKalb County public schools or some of the fine private schools located in the area. Public school students are most likely to attend Briar Vista Elementary, Druid Hills Middle School, and Druid Hills High School. Local private schools include Yeshiva Ohr Yisrael, Torah Day School of Atlanta, Intown Community School, Cliff Valley School, and Annunciation Day School.
Life in Briarcliff
Briarcliff is a fairly quiet community. People love it because of the affordable housing compared to nearby Atlanta neighborhoods, as well as how convenient it is to stores, restaurants, and entertainment. While the community is mostly residential, there are many strip malls and small shopping centers scattered throughout the area which means running to Whole Foods or Starbucks without having to get stuck in traffic.
