Just minutes west of Buckhead is the charming little unincorporated town of Vinings. It’s considered to be a hub for upscale shopping and dining and the gateway that connects Atlanta to suburban Cobb County. Many Atlanta commuters move there because the property taxes are less expensive than they are in the city, while families move there to take advantage of some of the top-notch public and private schools in the neighborhood.
Things to Do
If you like to shop or spend a night out at a trendy club or restaurant, Vinings is the place to be. The Victorian-style Vinings Jubilee sits in the heart of the community and features dozens of boutiques, specialty shops, and restaurants. For an unforgettable dining experience, try Garrison’s, Meehan’s Public House, or Canoe which offers a beautiful view of the Chattahoochee River while you dine. Cumberland Mall, one of the Metro Atlanta’s most beloved shopping destinations, is just minutes from Vinings. In 2017, the new Atlanta Braves baseball stadium will also be located just outside of Vinings.
Vinings offers a mix of older, established homes; newer construction; and condos, apartments, and townhomes. The average selling price for a home in 2013 was around $670,000, though prices generally range from $500,000 up to the multi-millions. Some of the more popular neighborhoods in the area are Avignon at Vinings, a gated community with European-style homes; Carter Grove, a trendy, upscale community located within walking distance of everything Vinings has to offer; Polo Place, a beautiful luxury community; and The Battery on Paces Ferry, a townhome community known for its amenities and green standards. Several swim and tennis communities are also located here.
Though it’s a happening place for singles, Vinings lies within one of the best school districts in the state which means young families love the area, too. Students will attend Cobb County public schools, including Campbell High School which has been named one of the best high schools in the United States. Teasley Elementary School and Campbell Middle School are also part of this district. If you prefer a private education for your children, many of Atlanta’s top schools are within a few miles of Vinings. These include The Lovett School which is just across the Chattahoochee River from Vinings, The Westminster Schools, and Pace Academy.
Life in Vinings
About 11,000 people call Vinings home which gives it the feel of a small town rather than a major Atlanta-area neighborhood. For this reasons, many singles and young professionals who have grown bored with Atlanta’s nightlife are moving to the area. The upscale neighborhoods with plentiful amenities and access to Georgia’s best schools attract many families each year, too. Vinings is the perfect place for people of all walks of life who don’t want to move too far from the city or too deep into the suburbs.
