Staplehouse Transforms into a Soup Kitchen

Most restaurants in Atlanta, and all over the world, have furloughed employees indefinitely. Most have adapted to the stay-at-home-order with take-out and delivery, along with sending unused food to local charities and feeding the homeless, one restaurant went even further. Atlanta’s Staplehouse restaurant partnered with Giving Kitchen to launch “The Giving Soup Kitchen” to provide meals, at zero cost, to furloughed service industry folks affected by Covid-19. They offer 50 takeaway meals per day, pick-up only.

Not only does this benefit those in need of food, but it also keeps Staplehouse in business and their employees with jobs. The restaurant said on Facebook, “As our mission hasn’t changed, our support needs have. Where we no longer need diners, we need donors. We ask our friends, supporters, and those who can help to donate to our Venmo account (@staplehouserestaurant). These funds will go directly to our employees, so we can keep the lights on as we help those in need of a warm meal and the comfort of community.” So far they have provided over 400 meals to service workers from 160 businesses.
