Buckhead Art & Co. is Painting to Provide Meals

Just around the corner from the Beacham office, local art gallery Buckhead Art & Company, owned by Katie Jones, has launched ‘Painting to Provide Meals’ in an effort to contribute to Covid-19 relief. The art gallery is donating 10% of sales from 25 artists to Atlanta Community Food Bank until the statewide shelter in place ends on April 30th. As to why Buckhead Art & Company chose this charity, owner Katie Jones says, “It was hard to pick one charity, but I decided on Atlanta Community Food Bank because of their partnership and involvement with the Fulton County Public School System,” all in hopes to provide children with meals that can no longer receive them at school. $1 can provide four meals!

During this unprecedented time, every industry has been impacted and forced to shift in one way or the other in response to this global pandemic, and the arts are no different. As self-quarantine continues to be our norm, art is more important than ever. “Having a large number of local artists in the gallery, it’s important for me to give back to our neighborhood and community where we can. Art brings people together and I hope we can also make a difference in people’s homes as we are all currently stuck inside,” says Katie. During this time of confinement, moving around freely is no longer possible. We must look inward and become creative in our own minds and search for outward expression through the arts.
