ATLANTA – Beacham & Company, REALTORS® was well-represented as the Atlanta Board of REALTORS® commemorated the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Atlanta Real Estate Board at a Centennial Celebration on April 22 at the Atlanta Realtors Center.
Alice McDonough, past-president of the ABR and a member of the Historical Planning committee, wasjoined at the Centennial Celebration by her daughter, Wight Mixon, who is president-elect of the ABR, and Dac Carver, vice president and managing broker of Beacham & Company. Pattie Boykin of Beacham & Company also served on the Historical Committee.

More than 500 Realtors attended the event, which was curated by the Atlanta History Center’s Dr. Catherine Lewis. The “Centennial Exhibition” exhibit traced, decade by decade, the positive impact the real estate profession has had on Atlanta’s emergence as an international capitol and a city renowned for its quality of life.
Among the highlights of the ABR’s first 100 years:
– 1925: The Atlanta Real Estate Board and the Georgia Association worked to pass a law establishing the Georgia Real Estate Commission;
– 1959: The Million Dollar Club was established to honor members of the Atlanta Real Estate Board who personally produced $1 million or more in sales volume in the calendar year;
– 1974: The Atlanta Real Estate Board was changed to the Atlanta Board of REALTORS®, following a similar transition the year before by the National Real Estate Board to the National Association of REALTORS®;
– 1992: The ABR incorporated the Atlanta Commercial Board of REALTORS®, the first commercial board in the country
