Located in Gwinnett County, about 20 miles northeast of Atlanta, Norcross is one of the city’s fastest growing suburbs. Despite the growth, however, the city of about 10,000 people still has the appeal of a small town. It is known for its storied past (it was once a vacation destination for Georgia residents during the nineteenth century), beautiful parks and green spaces, low crime rates, excellent youth sports programs, and numerous shops and restaurants.

Norcross is home to many fun-filled parks. The 30-acre Jones Bridge Park has a playground, soccer fields, volleyball courts, picnic areas, and fishing on the Chattahoochee River. Best Friend Park features 43 acres of swimming pools, 17 lighted tennis courts, a gym, badminton courts, basketball court, playgrounds, ball fields, and hiking trails. The 58-acre Pickneyville Park is popular for its baseball/softball complex, free-skate area, and roller hockey rink. For families with children, the Malibu Grand Prix Family Entertainment Center is a great place to spend a day playing miniature golf or riding bumper boats. For shopping, the outdoor mall The Forum on Peachtree Parkway is home to dozens of stores and restaurants. Local favorite eateries include Pappadeaux, Boulevard Diner, and Grace 1720. Norcross also hosts the biggest folk art festival in the world each year, the Slotin Folk Festival.
When it comes to homes, there is something for everyone in Norcross. The median home price in the city is about $130,000 which means plenty of affordable living for young families and professionals who choose to make the area their home. Even so, you will still find some upscale neighborhoods here, and some beautifully-restored historic estates and Victorians. There are also many condos in the area, too. Some popular neighborhoods in Norcross include Spalding Park Place, Neely Farm, North River Crossing, Highcroft, Blackwood Hills, River Valley Estates, and Old Town Cove.
Students in Norcross will attend Gwinnett County Public Schools, including the high-ranking International Baccalaureate World School, Norcross High School. Other public schools in the area include Peachtree Elementary, Simpson Elementary, Beaver Ridge Elementary, Meadowcreek Elementary, Norcross Elementary, Rockbridge Elementary, Pinckneyville Middle, Summerour Middle, and Meadowcreek High Schools. Private schools in the city include Hopewell Christian Academy and Greater Atlanta Christian School.

Norcross has been incorporated since 1870, and today, it retains much of its historic charm even though it continues to grow and modernize. It’s convenient to Interstate 85 and Buford Highway which makes access to Atlanta a breeze, but many people choose to work locally. Several top businesses, including a Fortune 500 company, have headquarters in Norcross, including Rock-Tenn, Waffle House, EMS Technologies, The Athlete’s Foot, and LSI Corporation.
