A sought-after school district, access to a major interstate, and proximity to some of the finest dining and shopping in the world are just a few of the reasons why both families and single professionals decide to call Wildwood home. While the southwestern Buckhead neighborhood has its own storied history – the area played a major role in the Civil War – many of its homes are newer and more modern than those in the surrounding communities.
Things to Do
Some of Wildwood’s most popular attractions are its beautiful parks and green spaces. The 7-acre Beaverbrook Park sits within the community’s boundaries and features trails, playgrounds, and a softball field. The historic Atlanta Memorial Park is also just a quick walk away. It features trails, a dog park, the popular Bobby Jones Golf Course, and the famed Bitsy Grant Tennis Center. Whether you are looking the hottest nightlife in the Southeast or some of the most popular designer boutiques in the world, Wildwood is just minutes away from everything Buckhead has to offer. This includes shopping at Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza and dining at popular restaurants like Fellini’s Pizza, La Parrilla, and Flip Burger.
In 2013, the average home in Wildwood sold for just over $820,000. Compared to Buckhead’s other neighborhoods, homes in this area are relatively new, though some date back to the 1940s. While there are some townhomes and apartments here, the majority of the sought-after real estate in Wildwood is made up of mid-century ranch homes, renovated cottages and bungalows, and a many traditional-style houses. Several of them feature private, wooded lots.
Parks and the overwhelming sense of community are not the only reasons families love Wildwood. Children who live in the neighborhood are automatically a part of the coveted Morris Brandon Elementary School district which is both a National Blue Ribbon School and a Georgia School of Excellence. Public school students will also attend Sutton Middle School and North Atlanta High School, both of which are International Baccalaureate World Schools. The Buckhead area is home to many prestigious private schools, including Westminster Schools and Pace Academy.
