Things to Do
While Hanover West is less than 10 minutes away from some of Atlanta’s most popular attractions, the neighborhood features many things to do without leaving the area. It has its own pool and newly refinished tennis courts, as well as its own garden club. Several popular Atlanta restaurants are located a few minutes north of the neighborhood, such as Local Three Kitchen & Bar, OK Cafe, Blue Ridge Grill, and Flying Biscuit. For a chance to shop at world-famous boutiques, head a few miles east into Buckhead’s commercial district to check out Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza malls. Drive a few minutes to the southeast of Hanover West, and you’re in Atlanta’s Midtown district which is home to attractions like the Atlanta Botanical Gardens and the High Museum of Art.
Homes in Hanover West tend to be a little more expensive than those in other Atlanta neighborhoods. In 2013, the average residence sold for about $1.4 million. Because the neighborhood is small, it can be hard to find homes for sale here, so when one become available, buyers tend to dive right in with an offer. Built in 1960, Hanover West is also considered to be one of Atlanta’s newer communities, so many of the houses have traditional, mid-century appeal, but there is also a great deal of newer construction from the 1990s and 2000s.
One of the biggest reasons why people choose to call Hanover West home is the proximity to Atlanta’s finest schools. Whether your child attends public or private institutions, rest assured that he or she will receive an excellent education. All of the public schools in the district are International Baccalaureate World Schools. They are Morris Brandon Elementary School, Sutton Middle School, and North Atlanta High School. Should you choose to send your child to private school, there are several options in the area, including The Galloway School and Westminster Schools.
