Reasons to Consider Moving to Vinings

Once a staple of transportation and trade, the Chattahoochee River now cuts a lazy trail through the metropolitan Atlanta area, with lucky townships and villages located along its banks. Vinings is one such township, and though it has a long history, it has recently been born again as one of the hottest neighborhoods to work, play and live in Atlanta. If you’re looking for the perfect neighborhood to purchase your next home, read below for reasons to consider moving to Vinings!

1. It’s in an ideal location.

Vinings is located 10 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta, offering just enough distance to feel like its own secluded haven without the hassle of a lengthy commute to the city center. It’s also neatly settled between the affluent areas of Buckhead, Cumberland and Smyrna.

2. It’s full of fascinating history.

Vinings was originally referred to as Crossroads, then in 1830 it was named Paces after Hardy Pace. Pace operated a ferry along the Chattahoochee River to allow passengers to cross back and forth between the township and Buckhead, Atlanta and Smyrna.

As industry thrived, Vinings became the headquarters for railroad construction in the Southeast and was ultimately renamed after William H. Vining, who laid tracks down for the Vinings Bridge. During the Civil War, the Union Army occupied Vinings throughout General Sherman’s Atlanta campaign, and though many buildings were destroyed, the city recovered and rebuilt as part of the reconstruction of Atlanta.

3. The shopping and dining is unbeatable.

Vinings has a lot to offer in terms of great shopping and dining. Each autumn, the city hosts Restaurant Week, where diners can enjoy fixed price menus at delicious restaurants like Noche, Another Broken Egg Cafe, The Olive Bistro and more!

Vinings also has a thriving shopping district located in the historic town center. Quaint architecture inspired by Vinings’ history is the setting for high fashion, local boutiques and unique finds in the Vinings Jubilee shopping center.

4. There’s plenty do do for fun.

Its ideal location along the Chattahoochee River and the thriving metropolis of Atlanta has set Vinings up for plenty of indoor and outdoor excitement. The Silver Comet Trail is within walking distance, and several outdoor festivals, farmers markets, concerts and events are a great way to enjoy warmer weather. Atlantic Station, the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre and other venues are all nearby for indoor fun as well.
