Phipps Plaza Entrance To Get Dramatic Update as Part of the Modernization Updates on Peachtree

Buckhead’s crown jewel of shopping is getting a makeover! Ever since its inception in 1969 as the first multi-level mall in Atlanta, Phipps Plaza has been a striking landmark in the city’s affluent Buckhead neighborhood. From its beautiful marble floors to the glass elevators, Phipps is designed with luxury and good taste in mind. Long heralded as the Southeast’s leading luxury shopping destination, the upscale retail center will be undergoing some construction over the next several months as part of a series of updates to the mall’s interior and exterior design.

A Modern Facade for a Modern Shopping Experience

While the shopping center’s trademark luxury tenants like Gucci, Jimmy Choo, Dior and Louis Vutton will still remain, Phipps’ entrance will be completely renovated to create a fresh, contemporary feel for shoppers. Expansive metal panels decorated with intricately patterned perforations will frame a stunning glass curtain. At night, the glass will be backlit for a welcoming entrance day or night. Luxury storefronts will also be showcased alongside the display to present more of a “boulevard feel,” according to Phipps Plaza’s General Manager Dewayne Herbert. The new storefronts, whether real or faux, will showcase the mall’s best brands, similar to Lenox Mall.

The new entrance is part of a renovation effort to breathe new life into the already thriving shopping center. Other updates include a concierge service center, improved parking decks and more lounge areas throughout the mall with lush, soft seating, Wi-Fi and charging stations. The entire series of renovations, which began last summer, is scheduled to be completed by Fall 2015, just in time for holiday shoppers to enjoy the new updates.
