New Apple Store Coming to Atlanta: Clues to Where It Will Open

There is an exciting rumor circulating through Atlanta that there will be a new Apple Store in the city. This rumor is based off of a Craigslist job ad’s claim, but there has been no official confirmation from Apple headquarters as of yet. Still, with only a couple of local Apple Stores, we believe the city is overdue for a new location!

There are several different locations that Apple might consider to place its new store. They might consider putting a stand-alone location on the Midtown Mile, similar to the locations they have in London or New York, or perhaps they will join in on the excitement surrounding the Ponce City Market revitalization?

While these options sound like an Apple fan’s dream, we suspect they’re not as likely as a new retail location in Cumberland Mall. Cumberland Mall is a bustling shopping destination on the west side of Atlanta. All of the “big name” stores are present there—with the notable exception of Apple.

Still, these qualifications aren’t always enough for Apple to invest in a new store. Countless malls throughout the country have similar pedigrees and are looked over by Apple execs. However, the experts we have consulted tend to agree with our assessment that Cumberland will have the city’s newest Apple Store soon.

Gary Allen, who is the top expert in regards to Apple Stores, has already put Cumberland Mall on his list of upcoming stores. This is in part because Apple already has a group of leasing companies it prefers to work with, and Cumberland’s General Growth Properties is a company it has worked with before.

Since the rumors started, Cumberland Mall spokespersons have confirmed that new businesses that could not be named will be coming to the mall. Normally, stores are excited to announce their arrival in a mall, so this secrecy feels more like Apple’s hand than anything.
