Beacham’s Nancy Meister To Vie For Atlanta School Board Seat

Atlanta public school advocate Nancy Meister of Buckhead announced this week she will vie for the District Four seat of the Atlanta School Board in the upcoming November election.

District Four, is home to five elementary schools including E. Rivers, Garden Hills, Morris Brandon, Warren T. Jackson and Sarah Smith as well as Sutton Middle School and North Atlanta High School.

“These are high-performing schools with extraordinary leadership and comprise one of the few kindergarten through twelfth grade (K-12) implementations of the widely-acclaimed International Baccalaureate curriculum,” says Meister. “My goal is to further strengthen the high standards and expectations for excellence in place throughout our city.”

As a successful Realtor with Beacham & Company, Meister knows a great location is not only a financial benefit, but pays many intangible dividends as well, according to Beacham & Company Managing Broker Dac Carver. That is why Nancy and her husband Steve have chosen to live and work in the North Atlanta area for more than twenty years, and why they have chosen to educate their children and build a community in their neighborhood schools, he adds.

As Meister explains, “I believe effective public schools build the strongest students, a thriving community and, in turn, a vibrant city. Everyone is a winner!”

“As a parent of two sons attending North Atlanta High, I’ve learned so much on our journey through Atlanta’s public school system (APS). I understand needs yet to be filled and have seen success stories yet to be told,” she continues.

Meister’s public school involvement reaches far beyond the successful experiences of her own two children. She has provided support for the schools of District Four as a member of the APS Northern Quarter Task force and as a founding member of the North Atlanta High School Foundation. She has served at the grassroots level as a three-term PTA President and currently Meister and her husband are serving in their third term as Presidents of the North Atlanta Parents of Public Schools (NAPPS).

This wide-ranging background has provided Meister an opportunity to work with parents, faculty, local businesses and administrations at the school, district and city levels to improve the public school experience for an entire community. Meister remarks, “I would be honored to continue my advocacy by working with School Superintendent Dr. Beverly Hall and her team in helping all our students achieve success.”
