2012 Piedmont Park Summer Art & Crafts Festival

The Atlanta Foundation for Public Spaces (AFFPS) is adding a dash of color and creativity to Piedmont Park this weekend by hosting their second Summer Arts & Crafts Festival. The Midtown community surrounding Piedmont Park is known for having a flare for the arts. This group of art lovers buys more art than most and that’s why the AFFPS is bringing this tradition back to the Atlanta arts community. The event is put on by artists for artists, creating a safe and nurturing environment where participants can come together and find a mutual appreciation for their different skills and crafts

According to their website, the AFFPS has several goals in mind:

  1. Give back to the community through art
  2. Bring the tradition of the Piedmont Park Arts festival to the Midtown community
  3. Create a festival for Artists by Artists, encouraging artists to have a voice in the creation and operation of the festival
  4. Create a show unlike any other in Atlanta, bringing together outstanding artists from all over the country plus many from right here in Georgia.

The festival will feature up to 200 artists, each with their own unique perspective on creativity and the artistic process. Vendors will include photographers, sculptors, leather and metalwork, glass blowers, jewelers and crafters. There will also be artist demonstrations, live music, a street market, a children’s play area plus foods and beverages.

Proceeds from the event will benefit a local charity or scholarship which supports the arts to be selected by the jury.

Admission is free!
